Virginia Personal Property Appraisals
Pamela Mandel

I have had a lifetime interest in antiques and decorative arts, regularly visiting museums and special exhibits, and attending lectures, conferences and symposia to both broaden and deepen my knowledge about textiles, oriental rugs, porcelain, silver and furniture. I have also collected wonderful objects from around the world. During a 30-year international health and development career, I undertook periodic appraisal studies courses through GWU, RISD, SUNY Purchase and Pratt, completing the required courses offered by the American Society of Appraisers in Personal Property and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. From 2009-2012, I purchased furniture, rugs, paintings, art pottery and silver at auction for an antiques and gift shop in Alexandria. I am a member of a number of museums, as well as antiques and decorative arts special interest groups, and frequently attend conferences and symposia on decorative arts and appraisal practice.
I would be delighted to assist you in preparing USPAP-compliant valuations of your personal property -- for estates, donations and/or insurance. I am also available to assist you in developing, cataloguing or inventorying your collections.
